FAQs

  • Your quilting choices impact how long it takes. Simple Edge to Edge designs can be quilted in a day or two. Have extra services? More time. Also, it will matter where you are in the queue. I will give you a rough estimate of completion.

  • If you use social media, you likely have many photos of quilting that you like. Let that guide you. Or you can let the fabric guide you. Have a southwest theme going on? Maybe a cactus pattern would be great. Do you like modern quilting? Modern quilts have lots of straight lines, dense quilting, and negative space. Like flowers? Use a floral pattern. Browse a list of designs here: Statler Stitcher patterns. If you don’t find something you like there but do find a digital design elsewhere, I’m happy to purchase it for you at the cost set by the designer with no mark-up. I can also combine elements of multiple patterns to create something that could work for you.

  • Yes, of course! Here’s the deal with quilts. Sometimes you know what you want. Sometimes you don’t. Hate making decisions? I can do that for you. Let me know how dense you want your quilt quilted and I’ll choose a pattern that you will love. An important caveat is that you have to let me know what you DON’T like so I can eliminate those elements.

  • First of all, it doesn’t have to be crazy expensive. Choose a loosely quilted Edge to Edge design with no add ons for the lowest price.

Longarm quilting is a business. We cannot give our services away and stay in business. It is not my goal to have an enormous amount of fees.

I do not charge for the following:

    1. Thread, unless you want more than one color.

    2. Loading or setting up the quilt.

    3. Planning time.

    4. Consultation time with you.

That is a lot of value added for my clients.

  • Short answer: time and materials.

The more stitches you put into a quilt, the longer it takes to quilt. It also uses quite a bit more thread. Remember, I don't charge you for thread unless you want more than one color. So, your densely quilted quilt takes longer to finish and uses more resources.

  • Short answer, yes. It’s your quilt. Do it your way. That would be a non-traditional way to back your quilt.

  • A few reasons. One is that I prefer to have clients get the maximum amount of their fabric back in usable sizes. You spent all of that money on your fabric. You should be able to use your scraps.

Another reason is that not everyone does binding in the same sizes. Some clients prefer wider binding. If I trimmed the quilt back too much, they’d lose some of the edge attaching their binding.

If you do want me to trim your quilt for you, there is just a small fee. I know not everyone has the huge table that I have which can make trimming and squaring a challenge.

  • Your quilt will be in a plastic tub until it is loaded on the machine. It will return to the tub until payment is made and the quilt is picked up or mailed back.

  • Yes. However that is not the main part of my business. Unless I’m swamped with other clients’ projects, I could make it work. Price would be based on complexity of design and materials provided and intended overall size. Just like with my other work, a consultation would be required.
